John Sedrak was born in Cairo, Egypt, and raised in San Diego, California, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of California, Riverside. He is currently a second-year medical student at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to starting medical school, John gained extensive experience in the healthcare field, working as a medical scribe, assistant, and later as a clinical manager and lead scribe at Pacific Coast Rehabilitation. His research background includes being the principal investigator of a comparative study between access to contraceptive care in the New England region's most and least populated states, New Jersey and Maine, respectively. Additionally, John serves the Clinical Research Coordinator for the Pacific Coast Rehabilitation research team, mentoring four students through with their individual projects focused in Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury.
In his free time, John has actively collaborated with several free clinics, advocating for preventive care and addressing barriers to healthcare accessibility. Currently, John is involved as the Region I Trustee Elect for the National Student Osteopathic Medical Association as well as serving as the Medical Student Ambassador for the AAPM&R student chapter on campus. He hopes to integrate his diverse experiences and medical education into his future medical practice working closely with patients to provide compassionate, patient-centered care. John is passionate about improving healthcare outcomes for underserved communities and is committed to promoting health equity through education, advocacy, and hands-on care.
