My name is Sophia Artamendi, B.S., and I am a fourth-year medical student at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. I'm originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL and come from a proud Cuban family. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Biology at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, where I developed a passion for medicine and a field that enhances quality of life for individuals, particularly those with neuromuscular disorders. My interest in PM&R stems from its holistic approach, focusing on optimizing function, improving mobility, and empowering patients to regain indepedence. I am especially drawn to neurorehabilitation, spasticity, and wellness and lifestyle medicine. Outside of medicine I enjoy playing sports, working out, and spending time at the beach, which fuel my love for helping others and fulfilling lives.
