Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
Isaiah Yim is an MS4 at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. His journey into medicine began in high school, when he served at a medical clinic for a year in one of the poorest countries in the world, East Timor. Upon returning to the United States, Isaiah pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at UCLA, successfully graduating in 2020. Notably, he dedicated several years after graduating to meaningful work in a mobile geriatric clinic during the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience further solidified his commitment to the field of medicine.
Isaiah has demonstrated a passion and dedication for PM&R. Collaborating closely with esteemed mentors, he has delved into critical aspects of the field including the use of different pain management assessment tools, multimodal approaches for pain control, and the intricate nature of disability perception in traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients.
Isaiah believes in a well-rounded approach to life, finding balance through diverse hobbies such as basketball, golf, chess, and the joy of cooking alongside his wife.
