Dr. Tolchin serves as Chair of PM&R and Medical Director of the Spine Center, Baptist Health South Florida
Dr. Tolchin is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University, Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did a biomechanics fellowship there as well with a focus in Osteopathic manipulative medicine. He completed an internship at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Florida and from there went on to complete his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (Rutgers University) where he served as the Academic Chief Resident.
Dr. Tolchin has held several leadership career positions including the first Chair of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Nova Southeastern University. He was also the Chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Miami VA Healthcare System and Associate Residency Director of PM&R at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. From an academic standpoint Dr. Tolchin serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine in the Neuroscience Division, FIU- Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and Associate Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine Nova Southeastern University Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. At Baptist Health South Florida, he serves as Chair, Nonsurgical Spine and Rehabilitation, Medical Director, Baptist Health Spine Center, and the Kalman Bass Endowed Chair in Pain and Rehabilitative Medicine
He has served as a National Board Examiner for the American Board of PM&R, and a lecturer nationally on low back pain and many other rehabilitation related topics. He has published chapters in several texts of rehabilitation, and multiple peer review journals on low back pain, sacroiliac joint, amputation rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, and spinal stenosis.
Dr. Tolchin is active in both resident and medical school education at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
