Resident
ABBEL Research Division, Sinai Rehabilitation Center, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Baltimore, MD
Dr. Katerina Havlik, DO, is a PGY-3 resident in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the Rehabilitation Institute at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. A native of central Maryland, Dr. Havlik earned an undergraduate degree in neuroscience from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, and a medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Greensburg, PA. They completed an internship at Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) in Towson, MD, before beginning residency at Sinai.
Dr. Havlik is developing broad clinical expertise in musculoskeletal medicine, diagnostic ultrasound, neurorehabilitation, pain management, integrative medicine, and electrodiagnostics. Beyond clinical responsibilities, they are actively engaged in research through the Anil Bhave Biomechanics & Engineering Labs (ABBEL) Research Division, where they receive mentorship and participate in interdisciplinary research to measure, diagnose, and improve mobility. Dr. Havlik first-authored a case report that recently received a revise-and-resubmit offer to the American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, reflecting their commitment to scholarship alongside clinical training. They also value medical education and enjoy mentoring junior trainees and medical students. With aspirations to pursue fellowship training in interventional spine and pain medicine, Dr. Havlik is dedicated to advancing patient care through clinical practice, research, and teaching/mentorship.
They chose PM&R to focus on restoring function, managing pain, and promoting independence in patients recovering from injury, illness, or chronic conditions. Dr. Havlik is particularly passionate about advocacy to expand access to rehabilitative services for underserved populations, striving to ensure equitable healthcare for all. They aim to integrate interventional techniques with holistic, patient-centered care to improve quality of life across diverse patient populations.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Havlik enjoys weightlifting, making collages, spending time in libraries, and exploring Baltimore’s local vegetarian food scene.
