Detroit Medical Center Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan
I'm Alexa Haupt, DO, a second-year resident at Wayne State University, Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan.
I’m a proud Michigan native, born and raised in Rochester Hills, and I’ve completed all of my education right here in the state. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience, followed by a Master’s degree in Physiology—both from the University of Michigan. Before medical school, I worked at Adam’s Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, where I discovered my passion for rehabilitation and sports medicine. That experience helped guide my decision to pursue a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. I recently completed my intern year at McLaren Oakland Hospital.
I’m honored and excited to continue my training at the DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan. RIM’s diverse patient population and the depth of experience among its faculty provide an exceptional environment for clinical growth. I’m confident that this training will prepare me to manage a wide range of rehabilitative needs, and I deeply value the supportive, collegial culture that makes the experience both rewarding and fulfilling.
Outside of medicine, I’m passionate about the outdoors and staying active. I enjoy running, mountain biking, golfing, and playing softball—especially when I can share those experiences with friends and family. Being in Detroit, I feel fortunate to be surrounded by a vibrant sports culture. From our four professional teams to events like the Detroit Marathon, the city offers a strong sense of community and energy that I’m proud to be a part of.
