Medical Student, American University of Antigua
Darine Alame is a third-year medical student at the American University of Antigua with research interests in hormone therapy, concussion management, and emerging peptide therapeutics. She has seen firsthand the ramifications of poorly managed concussions and the lack of education surrounding them, experiences that have fueled her passion for brain health, optimizing cognitive function, and preventive medicine. Fascinated by the brain, Darine is committed to advancing understanding and care strategies that support both recovery and performance.
A former collegiate wrestler, basketball player, and competitive Olympic weightlifter, she sustained multiple concussions during her athletic career, which deeply informed her interest in neuromedicine. Beyond competitive sports, she is an avid outdoor enthusiast, engaging in hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and other adventure activities.
Darine also brings extensive experience in the health and fitness industry, where she oversaw personal training programs and mentored fitness professionals, blending scientific understanding with practical application to support physical health and performance. Currently, she is leading a pilot meditation project at AUA designed to enhance academic performance and cognitive resilience among students, combining evidence-based practices with innovative programming.
Her career goal is to integrate clinical medicine, research, and preventive health strategies to improve patient outcomes, particularly in neurocognitive care and wellness optimization. Through her experiences as an athlete, researcher, and health professional, Darine seeks to bridge gaps in knowledge and empower others to achieve their highest levels of physical and cognitive potential.
