Medical Student
SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University

Mommina Ashaque is a second-year medical student at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University with an interest in neurosurgery. She is passionately driven by a desire to conforont the longwithstanding barriers to care that often affect underserved communities, and seems to ensure medical care is accessible to all populations. Her experiences in research, community efforts, and public policy alike have shaped her commitment to advancing academic literature while advocating for systemic changes. She hopes to bring the same scientific intrigue, empathy, and determination to all aspects of medicine, giving voice to individuals who might otherwise go unheard.
