Ryan P. MacDonald, MD/MPH Candidate, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
Ryan MacDonald is a dual-degree MD/MPH candidate at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine with a strong foundation in clinical research, public health, and community service. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with a minor in Business from the University of Florida, graduating magna cum laude.
Before medical school, Ryan managed clinical trials as a Project Manager at CNS Healthcare, overseeing operations for the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine study. He previously served as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Orlando Immunology Center, conducting HIV and COVID-19 studies, and worked in cardiology research. His early leadership included directing youth wellness programs at the non-profit Youth Combine.
At Miami, Ryan completed an MPH capstone on sustaining progress after intensive cardiac rehabilitation, designing a cost-conscious policy framework in collaboration with Synergy Lifestyle Center. His research includes accepted and submitted case reports in stroke rehabilitation and transplant-related disability presented at national PM&R meetings.
Dedicated to service, Ryan has volunteered with Special Olympics, Camp Kesem, and the Department of Community Service health fairs, while holding leadership roles in the PM&R Interest Group. His professional affiliations include AAPM&R, AAP, and FSPM&R, reflecting his commitment to advancing rehabilitation medicine.
