Student Doctor Abby Heims is originally from Iowa where she received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Cornell College, and she currently attends Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine. She serves on the executive board of the Campbell University Community Care Clinic as the Mobile Clinic Manager of Harnett County Operations. In this role she serves uninsured patients in the rural communities surrounding Campbell University, and oversees medical student volunteers during their time at the free clinic.
Abby is currently involved in research concerning complementary health approaches, global medical practices and trends, phenotypic accommodation in rat musculature after exercise, and orthopedic pediatric spinal surgery pain management modalities. In the future, Abby is interested in pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery.
Abby is the Vice President of the Campbell chapter of Christian Medical and Dental Association, and the Vice President of the Orthopedic Surgery Club. Abby is a member of Sigma Sigma Phi Honorary service fraternity, and serves her classmates as a Peer Tutor and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Campbell Medicine.
