2d Battalion, 4th Marines
Lieutenant Ervin Anies, MD, (FMF) currently serves as the Battalion Surgeon for 2d Battalion, 4th Marines stationed out of Camp Pendleton. His primary role is to provide direct medical care and deployment readiness sustainment for over 1,000 marines & sailors within the battalion. Additionally, he also oversees the vast medical education and training for the entire Battalion Aid Station (BAS) comprised of over 52 corpsmen (field medics). Prior to his selection as Battalion Surgeon, LT Anies served as an Intern Physician at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). While at Walter Reed, LT Anies was selected as the only Intern Physician in Military GME to be inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) in April of 2023. He also served on multiple hospital committees to include Housestaff, Pain Management, and DEI (Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion). LT Anies deployed to Okinawa, Japan in support of the 31st MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit), serving as the Battalion Landing Team Surgeon helping to run the BAS (Role I) subsequently for follow-on operations.
LT Anies is a current member of AAPM&R. He has authored or co-authored more than 20 combined peer-reviewed publications, local presentations, and national presentations. His research interests include traumatic brain injuries, sports medicine, orthobiologics, military/operative medicine, and working to further the impact of Navy PM&R for our service members. LT Anies graduated with both honors and merit from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD after which he qualified for a highly selective medical corps billet directly upon commissioning. He completed his undergraduate medical training at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD.
