Dr. Monica Verduzco-Gutierrez is Professor and Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. She also serves as Medical Director of Critical Illness Recovery and Neurorehabilitation at Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospitals and Chief of the PM&R Service Line at University Health.
A nationally recognized expert in brain injury, stroke rehabilitation, interventional spasticity management, and Long COVID, Dr. Verduzco-Gutierrez leads one of the first multidisciplinary post-COVID recovery clinics in South Texas. She has contributed to national initiatives and clinical trials, including the NIH RECOVER study and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality-funded projects, advancing research and care for individuals with complex disabling conditions .
Dr. Verduzco-Gutierrez has authored over 100 publications and frequently speaks on topics related to neurorehabilitation and post-viral syndromes. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Association of Academic Physiatrists .
