Associate Professor of PMR and Sports

Dr. Caldwell is an Associate Professor at VCU Health in Richmond VA. She has worked with multiple professional teams, including the Joffrey Ballet, Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics and the Washington Spirit. She is an affiliate team physician (since 2019) for US Soccer Extended National Teams (CP soccer, deaf soccer, power soccer, beach, fustsal, etc). She attended her first ParaPanAmerican games in 2023 and was the first women's team doctor to travel with the women's national fustsal team on their first international trip this year -in 2025 to Costa Rica. She is the Medical Director for the Richmond Marathon (going on 6 years now) and Head Team physician for an Adaptive Sports program called Sportable (with over 27 different adaptive sports offered for the DMV area). She is also the Head team physician for VCU Women's Basketball, and a team physician for VCU, VSU, VUU, Longwood, RMC, William & Mary.
Dr. Caldwell completed medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (former Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) Northwestern University/Feinberg School of Medicine in 2016, and her fellowship in Sports Medicine in 2017 with MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. She is dual board certified in PM&R and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Caldwell is published in multiple topics, with her favorite topics being exercise in adaptive atheltes and pregnant athletes. She is also APD of the VCU PMR residency program. She was a Division I NCAA Collegiate Middle Distance Runner for Lafayette College. She loves all types of sports, she is an avid runner, pilates enthusiast, surfer and white water kayaker. She believes in practicing what you preach.
