Program Director, Associate Professor
University of Louisville
I am the Program and Fellowship Director for the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Program at UofL Health Frazier Neuroscience and Rehabilitation Centers, as well as an Associate Professor of Neurosurgical Surgery at the University of Louisville. In my role, I work with SCI patients admitted to the Frazier inpatient unit and the University of Louisville Physicians clinic.
I utilize an Integrated Practice Unit (IPU) that includes navigators to provide comprehensive care during the acute and long-term management of SCI patients. The goal of this IPU is to systematically integrate patients with team members to address their specific SCI-related issues. The IPU employs nurse navigators to enhance team communication and coordination.
Additionally, I serve on multiple committees at UofL Health and the University of Louisville Physicians, focusing on improving care delivery. I am also a faculty member at the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center (KSCIRC), where I collaborate with SCI researchers to develop effective strategies aimed at improving functional outcomes for patients.
Furthermore, I am the founder of America's Committee at ASIA. The committee's objective is to serve as a liaison for rehabilitation providers across the Americas, promoting educational opportunities for professionals working with both acute and chronic SCI patients. We aim to enhance cooperation among various disability organizations in the Americas, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and training to improve the overall care of patients with SCI.
