Professor, Director of the Amputation Rehabilitation Program

Danielle Melton is on faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is the co-director of the Osseointegration/Bone Anchored Limb and Limb Restoration Program as well as the Director of Amputation Medicine and Rehabilitation Program. She is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Professor the PM&R and Orthopedic departments. Dr. Melton holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and specializes in the rehabilitation of orthopedic trauma with an emphasis on non-surgical management of limb salvage and amputations including bracing, pre-prosthetic management, prosthetic prescription and pain management providing lifelong rehabilitative care.
Dr. Melton serves on the Board of Directors for the Amputee Coalition and on the executive council for the Major Extremity Trauma Rehabilitation/Research Consortium (METRC) for the Ortho Trauma Association (OTA). Her research involves osseointegration, prosthetic components, phantom limb pain and neuromas and limb salvage funded by DoD and NIH.
Dr. Melton is recognized internationally as a medical expert in her field and frequently invited to national and international speaking engagements related to amputee care.
Dr. Melton has been selected by her peers to "Best Doctors in America", "America's Top Physicians", "Texas Super Doctors", and "International Physician Leaders of the World". She is the recipient of the “2024 Paradigm Medical Director Service Impact Award” and the “University of Colorado Hospital Medical Staff—2024 IMPACT Award” for her contribution in the Osseointegration Program in recognition of excellence in patient care.
