James B. Meiling, DO, RMSK, FAAPMR is an Assistant Professor in both the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He holds additional subspecialty certifications in Neuromuscular Medicine and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (RMSK). He completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, followed by fellowship training in Neuromuscular Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. His current areas of clinical practice include neuromuscular ultrasound, electrodiagnostic medicine, traumatic brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injuries, hand rehabilitation, musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided injections of the hand and wrist, and rehabilitation management of neuromuscular disorders. In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Meiling is actively involved in research, education, and mentorship. He is involved in collaborative research with special interests in neuromuscular ultrasound, electrodiagnostic medicine, ultrasound-guided needle electromyography, traumatic brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injuries, neuralgic amyotrophy (Parsonage-Turner syndrome), and peripheral nerve fasciculopathies. He has presented on these topics at national conferences, lectured and taught neuromuscular ultrasound workshops nationally, and published in several scientific peer-reviewed journals.
