Secili DeStefano, PT, DPT, Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist, is the owner of Optimal Motion Physical Therapy, a research investigator, and core faculty member. Optimal Motion is an outpatient orthopedic, sports and pelvic health clinic. Her research focuses on biopsychosocial factors that influence whole-person health, utilizing innovative technologies and employing transdisciplinary collaborations with institutions including the NIH, George Mason University Center for Advancing Systems Science and Bioengineering Innovation, Guelph, and New York University, among others. She is also the Physical Therapy Coordinator for the Georgetown University Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities program. She has received numerous accolades, including the APTA Lucy Blair Service Award and the Marymount University Distinguished Alumni Award, and has served in many leadership roles within the APTA, VPTA and APTA Pelvic Health. Secili’s work, spanning clinical, translational research, and teaching, is published in top journals like BMJ and Journal of Pain. She is dedicated to advancing healthcare through research, innovation, service delivery, and community engagement.
